Somatic Self-Tying is a hands-on workshop exploring rope as a somatic tool for connecting deeply with yourself. This class will open with an overview of somatics to provide a baseline understanding and some tools on how to more intentionally 'tune in' to the wisdom and insight stored in the body, along with an exploration of how rope can enhance self-exploration and somatic processing. To integrate the knowledge and skills we will touch on, the workshop will end with a guided meditation and somatic exploration followed by some time for reflection and some discussion on how to develop your own somatic self-tying practice. It is recommended to have a foundational knowledge of rope prior to the guided somatic exploration session - for those brand new to rope or in need of a refresher, there is an option to add a Rope 101 workshop which will take place immediately prior to Somatic Self-Tying. This basic overview will cover a non-collapsible single column, reverse tensions, munter frictions, extending rope, and a half-hitch.

If you are new to Rope or would like to refresh your memory after getting a little rusty, this is the perfect place to start! In this series of our curriculum we focus on building the fundamental knowledge and skills needed for the next Series.

In the Intermediate Series of our curriculum you will use the foundation of skills from the previous Series to really spread your wings! That’s right its time to fly! We will build on the fundamentals of Rope you already have and start adding the skills you need to get in the air.

The Advanced Rope workshop events is where we will take the fundamentals of rope and suspension and begin to explore the versatile world of rope during uniquely curated events and classes. These events/workshops are to hone your craft and start challenging you to express yourself artistically.

In 2024 The Rope Collective will be offering an avenue for aspiring technicians and artists to gain a Rope Certification provided by the leading artist and professionals in the industry. The acquisition and maintenance of a Rope Certification will allow you performance opportunities with the Rope Collective and abroad once your prowess and mastery of your craft in Rope if verified by an trusted industry professional.

The Rope Collective is excited to continue to support our local artists with the launch of the Artist Collective Support Program! Members of the Artist Collective will have access to: business consultation, business structuring guidance, website development, marketing, free or discounted massages and rehearsal space, other body care services, liability coverage during any event they perform at and more!
If you are interested in applying to join The Artist Collective please email admin@theropecollective.com with your artist resume and a portfolio of your work. The Artist Collective Support Program is not limited to Rope artist only. All are welcome to submit however, we will only be opening 20 slots this year.
